It's a well-known fact at this point that Colorado Springs is supposed to surpass Denver in population by 2030, but it is a surprising fact to learn that Denver is losing some of its population.

Denver lost over 6,000 people in 2021... but a lot of these people went to metro Denver or put off pregnancies because of the pandemic. (Also, people died because of the pandemic.) And both of these factors impacted the population.

Douglas county, Colorado had an increase of 12,000 people. During covid, someone reported that Douglas county was the number one exurb during Covid.


Will these numbers be revised in 2023? Hard to tell what is happening during 2020 and 2021.


As a final point, we wonder if cities really dying as predicted or was it just a rough couple of years?
